Kirsten Alexander, PresidentKirsten founded Alexander/Swift Associates in January 2001 after spending more than a dozen years working inside start up and consulting companies. As President, Kirsten works with non-profit clients such as the Annie E. Casey Foundation, as well as with high technology companies. Kirstens specialty is developing creative, high-impact, and cost-effective solutions for launching new companies, campaigns, and products. She is a frequent public speaker and has managed outreach initiatives at hundreds of conferences and community events. She has extensive experience in developing exhibits, creating brochures and Web sites, press relations, direct mail, presentations, and managing the design process. A believer in integrated marketing communications, Kirsten takes a practical approach to marketing by working with a team to develop consistent messages so that everyone involved in a project feels comfortable spreading the word. Prior to starting her own company, Kirsten managed the marketing and editorial groups at two Internet start ups and was a columnist and senior editor for an online magazine, Web Review. Kirsten also worked extensively in community-based outreach campaigns as the Marketing Manager for Community Newspaper Companys Interactive Group and its Town Online Web site. As an adjunct faculty member, Kirsten has taught graduate, undergraduate, and continuing education marketing and writing courses at Champlain College, Marlboro College, Emerson College, and American University. Among her volunteer activities in Boston, Kirsten is a co-chair of a community project for the Junior League of Boston and serves on its community projects oversight committee; and serves on the Advisory Board of Boston CareerLink, located in Roxbury. An active member of the Jones Hill Association since 1996, she has been an officer for four years. She headed up the Associations voter registration work and Poet Laureate program. An avid photographer since the age of 11, Kirsten specializes in event photography and videography. In 2001, she was trained as a television producer at Boston Neighborhood Networks, where she also studied digital video editing. She has developed presentations for many clients, including the multimedia award presentation honoring the 2003 Outstanding New Bostonian for the Mayor's Office of New Bostonians. Kirsten is a native Bostonian. She received her BA from New York University, spent a semester at The American University in Paris, and earned her MFA in Creative Writing from American University in Washington, DC. After living in New York, Paris, and Washington, DC, she returned to Boston in 1995, moving to Dorchester.
